About us
The Center for Evaluation and Counseling, Inc. (CEC) is a non-profit mental health agency with 30 years of experience. The staff is comprised of Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and Master’s and Doctoral level interns, each of whom brings to CEC many years of training and experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults. Our mission is to provide mental health services to individuals and families in need of a supportive and safe place, free from stigmas, to promote healing and a sense of personal well-being and create positive change. Many of the staff members are recognized as experts within their fields, and serve on various Boards and Committees throughout the State, which are dedicated to addressing mental health issues and the provision of mental health services. CEC provides various assessments, individual counseling, couples counseling, family therapy, and group therapy. March is Social Work Month. We want to give a shoutout to our fellow social workers! The demand for social workers is reflected in the statistics. Did you know that by 2030 there will be more than 782,00 social workers in the United States? This makes social work one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. This year's Social Work Month theme is Empowering Social Workers. Across our country, social workers are on the frontlines, behind the scenes, and leading the way in serving and supporting individuals, families, and communities struggling with mental health challenges, homelessness, opioid addiction, and economic and social inequalities, to name a few. We are asking the public to support social workers to improve our bottom line by supporting legislation to access the Mental Health Act, loan forgiveness to cancel student debt, and social work safety legislation. We See You: Why America Must Invest in Young Adults of Color https://lnkd.in/e4Utd34 In this article from the Stanford Social Innovation Review, there are five suggestions: * Prioritizing education to close the achievement gap? * Expanding youth employment opportunities? * Decriminalizing youth? * Expanding opportunities for youth community service? * Changing policies to allow people of color to build wealth? "At least 25 percent of all young people and nearly 50 percent of Black males have been arrested once by age 23." At CEC, our Comprehensive Adolescent Program (CAP) plays a part in decriminalizing youth by providing adolescents an alternative to juvenile detention. CAP provides psychoeducational and support services, essentially a place to be seen, feel heard, and build skills to create the life these young adults want for themselves.
